Job Description
As our Senior MDM Consultant, you will be the go-to expert for the Syndigo Enterprise Data Suite (formerly Riversand PIM/MDM) — owning the platform, technically leading a team of configurators, and making sure our product and master data processes work reliably at scale.
This is a senior individual-contributor role. You will drive requirements through to delivery, integrate Syndigo with our custom stack, enable the people who use what you build, and actively grow the team's knowledge along the way.
What you'll do:
- Own and contribute to the Syndigo EDS platform — data models, taxonomies, business rules (RBL), workflows, validation rules, and UI configuration. Maintain the platform and it’s infrastructure.
- Lead and mentor a team of Syndigo configurators: set quality standards, run design reviews, and help your colleagues grow.
- Work with software engineers, product owners, master data managers, and category managers to turn business requirements into working platform solutions.
- Test the system configuration, including manual, automated anduser acceptance tests
- Design and implement integrations between Syndigo and our broader stack (SAP ERP, custom stack, DAM, analytics, GDSN, marketplaces) using REST APIs, JSON, and XML.
- Build and maintain shared knowledge assets — configuration playbooks, integration patterns, ADRs, and best-practice guides the whole team can use.
- Train and enable master data managers and category teams to adopt new processes and platform changes confidently.
- Monitor the Syndigo roadmap and MDM/PIM market; bring relevant insights back before they become problems.
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuously improve how the team delivers.
Tools we work with: Syndigo EDS / Riversand, REST APIs, JSON / XML, Jira, Confluence , Microsoft 365, SQL, SAP, GDSN/GS1, AWS, Azure, Java, Python, Bitbucket, Jenksins
What we're looking for:
- 6–7 years of hands-on Syndigo EDS / Riversand PIM/MDM experience, including deep knowledge of data models, Riversand Business Language (RBL), workflows, validation rules, and Syndigo Cloud environments.
- Proven end-to-end GDSN / GS1 experience: recipient onboarding, trading partner setup, GS1 attribute validation, and troubleshooting synchronization issues.
- Practical API integration experience — you can design a REST integration contract, work through edge cases with an engineering team, and diagnose a broken data flow without hand-holding.
- Strong understanding of MDM concepts (golden record, match-and-merge, stewardship, lifecycle) and common architectural patterns (event-driven, ETL/ELT, API gateway, pub/sub).
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical designs and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders — you give honest feedback and can say no to a bad requirement with a good reason.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence and SQL.
- Proven record of working in Agile SDLC team.
- Fluent English.
Nice to have:
- Syndigo EDS certification.
- Experience with other MDM/PIM platforms: Stibo STEP, Informatica MDM, Salsify, or inRiver.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
- Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket experience
- Azure (Blob Storage, Event Hub, Data Factory), AWS, or GCP experience.
- Core Java, Python, SQL or scripting skills for custom integration components.
- Experience in e-commerce, consumer goods, pet retail.
