Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Team Lead Accounts Payable to lead our AP team in Vienna and support the continued development of our wider Finance Operations organization.
You will take ownership of daily AP operations, develop the team, manage workload and priorities, and ensure invoices and supplier topics are handled accurately and on time. You will also help us standardize processes, strengthen controls, use data more effectively, and increase automation across Accounts Payable.
What you will do
Lead, coach, and develop the AP team in Vienna
Manage daily operations, workload, priorities, and backup coverage
Monitor invoice queues, aging, blocked invoices, exceptions, and escalations
Support the team with complex AP, supplier, and system-related topics
Set clear responsibilities and build consistent ways of working
Use KPIs and reporting to improve quality, speed, and operational performance
Identify recurring issues and drive practical, lasting improvements
Work closely with Procurement, Vendor Management, Master Data, Treasury, Accounting, Logistics, and IT
Support process standardization and stronger cooperation across different locations
Drive the effective use of SAP, OpenText VIM, reporting, and automation
Qualifications
- Several years of end-to-end Accounts Payable or Procure-to-Pay experience
Proven experience leading AP or business operations teams in a Shared Service Centre, Global Business Services, or centralized operations environment
Experience managing high-volume operations across multiple entities, countries, or business units
A background in e-commerce, retail, consumer goods, marketplaces, or another fast-moving industry is strongly preferred
Strong understanding of PO and non-PO invoices, three-way matching, credit notes, payment blocks, vendor reconciliations, invoice exceptions, and month-end activities
Good practical knowledge of SAP, ideally SAP S/4HANA
Experience with OpenText VIM or a comparable invoice automation solution is a strong advantage
Experience using KPIs, service levels, and operational reports to manage workload and performance
A successful track record in process improvement, standardization, automation, or finance transformation
Strong people-management skills, including coaching, feedback, development, and conflict handling
Ability to lead teams through change while keeping daily operations stable
Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills
Analytical and structured approach to solving problems
Professional English skills; German is a strong advantage
A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; relevant professional experience may be considered instead
What describes you
You take ownership and follow topics through to completion
You are visible, approachable, and close to the daily operation
You give people clarity, support, and honest feedback
You remain calm and practical when priorities change
You use facts and data to make decisions
You look for root causes rather than repeatedly fixing the same problem
You can balance people leadership, operational delivery, and process improvement
You enjoy making processes simpler, clearer, and more effective
